Lee Morris, the guy from FStoppers, released The iPhone Fashion Shoot back in July of 2010 thinking that it would be a fun way to prove a simple point (that people can create compelling images with any camera). However, 50% of everyone who saw it would totally miss the point. Half of the comments made on the video were about his expensive studio lights, professional model, professional hair, makeup, and retouching. People still didn’t want to admit that they were capable of taking great shots on whatever gear they had.
Yesterday, one of the guys at SLR Lounge released another video of an iPhone Photo Shoot tribute to the FStoppers. But, for this photoshoot, they have set some ground rules:
- iPhone Camera Only — they are not using any additional apps or functions other than the iPhone Camera that comes standard with each phone.
- Accessories Less than $30 — they are limiting all additional photographic accessories to less than $30 each, and less than $100 in total for the entire shoot.
- Non-Professional Model — they are using their lighting assistant and friend Yoko as their model. While she is beautiful, she doesn’t have any prior modeling experience.
- Harsh Daytime Lighting — they rescheduled this shoot to ensure that they didn’t have any nice, photography-friendly overcast skies. They wanted to shoot in direct harsh sunlight so they can prove that this is possible regardless of the weather.
So, enjoy the video guys. To see all of the original and edited shots from this shoot, check out the photos on their Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/slrlounge
