
Ever since Nikon announced their new bodies D800 and D800E, one with the anti-aliasing filter and one without, respectively, everyone is talking about the Moire pattern that appears in some photos. You can read up on the difference is image quality HERE. TL;RD: the anti-aliasing filter helps remove the Moire patter, but also lowers the quality. In this episode on AdoramaTV, Mark Wallace will demonstrate what the pattern looks like, and how to remove it in Photoshop. To the best of my knowledge, the pattern shows up both in print and on screen, and there’s no way to completely remove it 100%.
With the option whether to keep the anti-aliasing filter or not, will you be getting the Nikon D800 or D800E?

Thanks for posting the technique on Moiré removal. It does a great job for removing the color component of Moiré. When the Moiré has a color separation as in the the example you shared, there is an additional step/technique that can help remove the luminosity component as well.
