Gorilla lured by iPhone

Setting up remote cameras to capture wildlife photos is nothing new. But, it’s a complicated process that often involves a fair bit of gear and a trip into the wild. One clever Youtube user, however, came up with a pretty nifty way to get close-up primate footage using a cheap mirror and his iPhone.

The premise is simple: You drill a tiny hole in a mirror and stick the camera’s lens through it. Then, when the animals come to check out their reflection, they also give you some footage that would be otherwise difficult to get.

Zoos sometimes do the same thing with cameras enclosed in ruggedized enclosures, but you can’t beat the $8 price tag on this hack version. He also put together a cool how-to video in case you want to try it yourself.
