If you’re a headshot photographer who’s on a budget, but you want to create some nice portraits that look somewhat like Peter Hurley‘s work, maybe these videos might help. Pennsylvania-based photographer Joe Edelman builds his studio equipment with simple florescent, from strip lights to power banks. Obviously, when using florescent lights for photography, you’ll run into the problem of flickering from the inconsistency of the [cheap] light source. In the second video, Joe will show you a trick to avoid it.
Needless to say, this is nowhere near Peter’s quality of work, nor the quality of those Kino Flo‘s, and I’m personally not a fan of his post process either, but I’ll give him kudos for making the videos with some nice lighting tips.
