In this second installment of the 3-part series videos comparing the Canon 5D Mark III versus the Nikon D800, Chris Niccolls over The Camera Store went out for a shoot with photojournalist Mike Drew. Mike and Chris look at how these two cameras handle fast action in low light and how JPEG processing compares to the RAW files. What I really like about this comparison is that it’s not another model shoot but rather a real working world photographer shooting under the unique and difficult conditions of a cutting horse competition. I’m not sure this is what the Nikon D800 was built for, but it’s interesting to see how it performs against its counterpart, given that the Canon 5D Mark III is under serious heat right now with the light leak issue.

In case you were wondering, the first installment of this series is HERE. The third part is coming up soon.

the Nikon D800 LCD screen has a green cast on some images. The actual files are fine and the problem seems to be with the LCD screen. This discussion on flickr suggests that the green cast could be fixed by adjusting the LCD monitor hue – see page 52 of the D800 manual
