When making a time-lapse video, I think one of the important factors to make a good time-lapse is the music. Aside from choosing the shooting location, bringing all the gear you need, staying in the extreme weather, having a powerful enough computer to process the images, you also need to get the right music. The background music pretty much sets the pace and the feel of a time-lapse video.
While checking out some of the videos of international filmmaker and photographer Henry Jun Wah Lee, I noticed that his choice of background music is excellent. If the movement is slow, the music is nice and soothing; if the movement is fast (relatively speaking anyway; it’s a time-lapse after all), you’ll notice the same speed of the music. Take, for example, his latest video called “Ascendance”: it starts slow at the beginning, and then things speed up when you start seeing the storm and the lightnings. Brilliant!
I’ll include some of his other work below. Some of the videos are quite long, so take your shoes off and get comfortable. Make sure to check out Henry’s website and follow him on Facebook.
